Nevada Construction were appointed by Royal Devon University Hospitals, via the Pagabo Framework, to deliver the design and construction of a JAG-accredited Endoscopy Unit at Tiverton and District Hospital. This purpose-built facility houses three endoscopy suites, along with dedicated spaces for patient preparation, recovery, colleague facilities, and training areas. Designed to address the growing demand for endoscopies, the unit will improve patient experience, reduce waiting times, and enhance regional healthcare services.
Engaged from RIBA Stage 3, Nevada Construction has led the design process through Stage 4 and into construction, ensuring the project aligns with the hospital’s requirements and accreditation standards. In keeping with the architectural style of the surrounding hospital buildings, the unit features a single-storey traditional brick and block construction, with a dedicated first-floor plant room to accommodate essential mechanical and electrical systems.
A key aspect of the project involved extensive external works, including the construction of a separate generator compound, external storage, parking facilities, and associated landscaping. Nevada Construction also worked in collaboration with National Grid to deliver a dedicated new power supply, ensuring the unit’s operational resilience.
The Tiverton Endoscopy Diagnostic Unit will significantly enhance local healthcare by increasing endoscopy capacity and improving patient care pathways. Its self-contained design will ensure a seamless patient journey from arrival to recovery, while modern infrastructure and dedicated staff areas will support high-quality clinical care and training.
With sustainability at the forefront, the project is on track to achieve a ‘BREEAM Very Good’ rating, aligning with Royal Devon’s commitment to environmentally responsible construction. By combining thoughtful design, careful planning, and a focus on long-term sustainability, Nevada Construction is delivering a state-of-the-art medical facility that will play a crucial role in supporting the healthcare needs of the community
