Broadmeadow Sports Centre has undergone a major transformation, delivering modern, energy-efficient facilities that support both community wellbeing and climate action. This milestone project represents a significant investment in the local area, upgrading public health infrastructure while prioritising sustainability, accessibility, and long-term operational efficiency.
This project was driven by the urgent need to meet carbon reduction targets and align with wider sustainability goals.
We led a full M&E overhaul, removing legacy infrastructure and installing high-efficiency air source heat pumps, heat recovery ventilation, fully electric systems, and LED lighting throughout. This approach significantly reduces the building’s carbon footprint and future energy demand.
Close coordination with our M&E partners ensured every component was integrated with the building’s fabric upgrades, including improved insulation and new glazing. These systems now work in harmony to optimise comfort, reduce emissions, and future-proof the centre’s operations.
The Broadmeadow Sports Centre project delivers long-term environmental and social value — not only through its sustainable design but also through its engagement with the local community throughout construction.
As a major public facility, keeping the community informed and supported was a key priority. Regular letter drops provided clear updates on project progress, timelines, and upcoming changes. We also worked closely with the client team to advise users on alternative training and leisure options during the closure, helping to minimise disruption and maintain continuity of health and fitness routines.
Looking ahead, the refurbished centre will act as a welcoming, inclusive hub for health, wellbeing, and social connection – all underpinned by a sustainable, low-carbon building that supports both individual and environmental goals.
