We were proud to sponsor this year’s Mission Mammoth STEAMFest, delivered in partnership with Building Plymouth, and hosted at both The Box and Arts University Plymouth.
It was a day filled with energy, ideas and creativity, and Team Nevada was right at the heart of it, mentoring and inspiring local primary school children as they took on a brilliant range of STEAM challenges.
Throughout the day, pupils rotated through a series of workshops covering:
-
Design & Architecture
-
Green Skills & Sustainability
-
Engineering
-
Surveying
These sessions were all supported by experts from across the construction and built environment sectors – including our own Nevada team – as well as amazing facilitators from The Box and Arts University Plymouth.
Children explored materials, used tools, tested ideas, and began imagining what the future of Plymouth could look like through the eyes of young designers, engineers and makers.
The Learning Continues
The STEAMFest journey doesn’t stop at the end of the day. Back in the classroom, pupils will now be supported by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), who will help them develop their Mammoth Landmark designs even further.
Each child will refine their ideas and submit them for a special design competition, with the winners celebrated in an awards ceremony after the summer holidays.
It’s a fantastic way to extend the excitement of STEAMFest and help young people continue to grow their ideas and their confidence.
Getting hands-on with the next generation, sharing our knowledge, and seeing their creativity in action — that’s what this is all about. It’s exciting to think that some of the children we met today might be the future of construction.

The event also gave us a chance to highlight the diverse careers available in our industry — from building and sustainability to design and heritage, and to encourage skills that matter for life.
