As the festive season approached, the spirit of giving took over at Nevada Construction. December 2023 was a time filled with joy, warmth, and a series of heartfelt initiatives aimed at making a difference in the lives of those around us. Here’s a glimpse into our Season of Goodwill and the memorable moments that made it truly special.
A Helping Hand for Andy’s Man Club
We kicked off our goodwill journey by supporting #ANDYSMANCLUB, an incredible organisation dedicated to preventing men’s suicide. Understanding the importance of community and support, we were proud to donate food, drinks, and refreshments for one of their vital meetings in Newton Abbot. It’s initiatives like these that remind us of the power of kindness and the difference it can make.

Spreading Cheer at a Local Care Home
Good deeds don’t always have to come with a price tag. Sometimes, the gift of time is the most precious. Our team visited a local care home in Teignmouth, engaging in fun games and meaningful conversations with the residents. The smiles and laughter shared were a testament to the joy that comes from simply being there for one another.

Supporting the Exeter and Plymouth Foodbanks
Our journey of giving continued with a visit to the Exeter Foodbank, where we contributed 140kg of essential food items. With the demand for food bank support on the rise, especially during the festive season, it was a moment for us to step in and help alleviate some of the pressures faced by families in our community.

Not stopping there, we extended our efforts to the Plymouth Foodbank, further reinforcing our commitment to supporting those in need and highlighting the critical work these organisations do every day.

Life-Saving Heroes
Some of our brave team members embraced the role of real-life superheroes by signing up as blood donors. Their selfless act serves as a reminder of the impact we can make, with each donation having the potential to save up to three lives, which is particularly important as we approach the winter period, when blood stocks become very low. It’s gestures like these that embody the true spirit of the Season of Goodwill.

Singing Along with Meghan Rae Music for a Good Cause
We had a wonderful time joining local talent, Meghan Rae Music, in bringing festive cheer to the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. Our collective efforts, filled with music and goodwill, were dedicated to raising vital funds for the Torbay and South Devon NHS Charity. To contribute to this noble cause and support our healthcare heroes, please visit their donation page. Your support makes a difference.

Visit to the Children’s Wards at Derriford Hospital
In one of our most touching initiatives, we teamed up with Plymouth Albion RFC to visit the Children’s Wards at Derriford Hospital. Armed with toys and enthusiasm, we aimed to bring a slice of Christmas cheer to the brave young hearts facing health challenges during this festive season. Our partnership with Plymouth Albion Rugby Club was instrumental in making this moment possible, showcasing the strength of community collaboration.

“The Wizard of Oz” Sponsorship
We’re excited to sponsor the Shaldon Theatre Company’s “The Wizard of Oz” at Pavilions Teignmouth, from 24th to 28th January. This inclusive event, tailored for individuals with disabilities and local youth groups, highlights our commitment to making the arts accessible. Join us for this magical production by visiting Pavilions Teignmouth for tickets and information. Let’s enjoy the wonder of live theatre together.

Axminster Community Primary Academy
We also visited Axminster Community Primary Academy for the Season of Goodwill – with the gift of storytelling. We donated 100 brand new books to the eager young readers at the school. Our generous staff also contributed a selection of beloved books from their own collections.

Supporting Rowcroft Hospice
Our Season of Goodwill culminated in a festive flourish with our Christmas video, which successfully raised £5,000 for Rowcroft Hospice. This effort not only highlighted the incredible work done by the hospice but also reinforced our commitment to supporting such vital causes within our community.
As we reflect on a December filled with acts of kindness, generosity, and community spirit, we’re reminded of the true essence of the festive season. At Nevada Construction, it’s not just about building structures but also about building hope, spreading joy, and nurturing the bonds that connect us all.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in making this Season of Goodwill one to remember.
